OneStory Church Planting: Global Frontier Missions

Global Frontier Missions has just networked with OneStory in the vision of seeing the beginnings of an oral Bible presented to every people group on the earth by the year 2020. We will be focusing our church planting efforts on the unreaced people groups of Oaxaca, Mexico. We are now offering the OneStory Quest two-year missions internship program.

How would you like to spend two years of your life doing missions among an unreached people group? We are looking for people that would be willing to live in villages, learn languagues, do relationship evangelism/discipleship, and ultimately produce 40-60 stories in oral form. Imagine doing missions among a non-literate culture for two years and then being able to give them a Bible that will be used for generations to come!

We will provide all of the training that you need to accomplish this task. Your time will start off in Puebla, Mexico with two weeks of extensive cultural, linguistics, and church planting training. There you will get to know the other people that will be involved in the OneStory Quest project in Mexico and find out who will be working in the same people group as you. All Mexico church planting teams will return to Puebla every few months for more specialized training, fellowship, accountability, etc.

Besides the quarterly missionary training in Puebla, Global Frontier Missions will also assign a church planting coach to each OneStory Quest team working in Oaxaca. The church planting mentor's job is to make sure that you are doing good spiritually, culturally, emotionally, and in ministry. Your coach will stay in touch with you via phone and email as well as visit you on the field every other week to see how you are doing, meet your contacts, give you church planting tips, check reading assignments, and pray with you. We also have a base in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca where there will be occasional retreats, training, fellowship, and strategy sessions. OneStory team members will have access to the missions base if they ever need a short time away from the village.

We offer a Mission Training School that offers a lot of classroom as well as personal experience to train people for missions. However, we have found that the best way to train church planters is to get them on the field and have them learn along the way. Our heart is to give you all of the resources and training necessary to make you effective at church planting. Global Frontier Missions' church planting coaches are dedicated to helping you grow spiritually and be fruiful in ministry.

Dates: Oct. 1, 2006 - Oct. 1, 2008
see our timeline for more information

Cost: $400/month which includes food, housing, training, transportation inside Mexico and outreach!

Finances: Most of our Quest team members also join Commission to Every Nation which handles all of your missionary finances and helps with newsletters. All of your supporters can send money to CTEN so that they can get tax write-offs for their missions donations. CTEN will deposit all of the money into your personal account at the end of each month and then you will send your monthly fees to Global Frontier Missions.

Note: We recommend that each person planning on going into full-time missions raise about $800 of total monthly support for things like travel, insurance, and living expenses. Many Quest team members end up going directly to the mission field after their internship is completed and it is good to have that support base in place.

Requirements: Applicants must be high school graduates that provide us with an application, pastor reference, and spiritual leader reference. We can currently only accept applicants from North America. Our main criteria for students is that they be teachable, hungry for the Word of God, and willing to do anything for Jesus Christ. A decent grasp of the Spanish language is required for our Quest team members.
