Short Term Mission Trips for Christian Leaders

Global Frontier Missions has great short term mission trips during the summer and throughout the year for Christian pastors and leaders among the unreached of Oaxaca, Mexico.

We believe that the fulfillment of the Great Commission is in the hands of the local church. We want to provide an inexpensive cross-cultural missions experience for pastors and leaders so that they can catch the vision for world missions and take home that excitement to their local congregations. Many leaders in the past have come down to "spy out the land" and have decided to return with others from their church for a short term mission trip and/or to adopt people groups.

Pastors and leaders will join up with an existing group to check out our whole program.

The following is a basic overview of a 9- or 10-day mission trip to Oaxaca:

Training Phase: The first night, you arrive in Oaxaca City and take a 3-hour van ride to our base in Tlaxiaco. The first two days of the trip (beginning the morning after your arrival) are spent mostly at our base, getting everyone ready for outreach. This training phase includes times of personal devotions, Biblical instruction (missions, death to self, repentance, etc.), team time, worship, Spanish classes, and cultural preparation. We also train you in things specific to your outreach (kids programs, well drilling, water filtration, Spanish and cultural issues specific to medical/dental outreach, etc.).

Outreach Phase: After the training phase, we spend the better part of the next five days ministering in Tlaxiaco (or in a village in isolated cases). There will still be some times of ministry preparation and training at our base, but we will spend a good portion of each day in town doing medical clinics, kids' programs, water filter demonstrations, drilling wells, or carrying out other ministries. These days will be fun times of working hard, praying hard, building relationships, and sharing the gospel with our words and our lives. During the outreach phase we will provide times for prayer, sharing, debriefing, announcements, etc.

Debriefing Day: The day after the end of outreach is a fun day in Oaxaca City. We debrief the trip, go to some ancient ruins, shop at a market, and eat a nice meal at a restaurant. We also use this day as a prayer tour - an opportunity to intercede for Oaxaca. That night you stay at a local hotel, and the next morning you head home.
